A conversation with jasmine
What made you want to become a therapist?
I have always loved taking to people and listening to the stories they tell about their lives. To me, therapy is an extension of this. I’ve always been drawn to positions where people can support healing and growth through forming human relationships. As I learned more about different professions in college, I felt more and more like the therapist profession aligned with my goals and professional calling.
What do you do when you are not working?
I am very big on investing in my personal time and hobbies. I love to travel to national parks and want to spend some more time exploring other countries. I consider myself a big foodie and love to explore new places by finding delicious local restaurants to indulge in. Crafting and creating things with my hands are also integral to my self-care. I’m an avid knitter and crocheter.
What is important to you when working with clients?
I am very client-centered with my approach. I believe that my clients have the capacity to reach their goals and live their best lives. When working with clients, I aim to provide an encouraging, affirming, and healing therapeutic bond. I also believe in open communication with my clients. I want to show up authentically in the therapeutic relationship, which will hopefully encourage my clients to open up and feel comfortable in our work together.
